hanafuda daruma
Daruma have long been regarded as a good luck charm and a symbol of perseverance. Here at twinkle pottery their traditionally fierce expressions along with their signature red color have been combined with the simplicity of expressions inherent in Japanese wooden kokeshi dolls and these happy charms were created. This particular daruma was inspired by hanafuda, the card game we played a lot as kids growing up in Hawai’i, he’s got a soft satiny glaze over most of him and he’s also a rattle, give him a shake!
Each and every piece of my pottery is made and finished entirely by hand. Handmade pieces will all have slight variations in color and design so will definitely be one of a kind. Measurements will vary slightly as well the intensity and layering of colors. As with all handmade pieces there will be slight imperfections that are characteristic of a hand crafted item, they will not affect the function of the piece so I hope you’ll see it as a personal mark of the maker, me!
Pottery and imperfection coexist and create unique, lovable pieces that you can feel each and every time you use them. They are made for you to enjoy!
Aloha and thank you for shopping with twinkle pottery!
